November 21st and 27th 2021

European College of Facial and Oral Surgery

Feldkirch, Austria

Overview of the course

This 2-day course provides knowledge of the basic principles of CBCT technology, including selecting and optimizing imaging protocols, reducing radiation risk, recognizing CBCT appearances of common anatomical variants and pathological changes, and an introduction to systematic interpretation and reporting of CBCT examinations. By the end of the course, participants will:

  • understand the basic principles of CBCT imaging
  • understand the nature and magnitude of risks associated with dentomaxillofacial imaging and approaches to minimize these risks
  • recognize when to prescribe CBCT scans to optimally balance diagnostic yield  and radiation risk
  • be familiar with CBCT appearances of common anatomic variants and common dental disease
  • be familiar with the process of basic CBCT interpretation and report generation
  • recognize situations where referral to an OMR for a second opinion or full interpretation provides value in patient care
  • In the end of the course the participants receive a certificate from the European College of Facial and Oral Surgery.
